We know everything about this world we live in, don't we? We get the odd surprise, but on the whole, we can live our lives the way we see fit, doing our jobs, spending time with our friends and family, watching movies, settling down in bed for a good nights sleep , and knowing that the only thing that goes bump in the night is the cat flap as your moggy rolls on in at stupid o'clock in the morning .

But what if I told you that what you see, isn't always what you get? What if I told you that you weren't as alone in the world as you thought you were? You wouldn't believe me would you?

What if I told you that creatures you couldn't imagine in your wildest dreams, were actually walking among us, just hiding in plain sight. Working jobs, living and loving, just like you do.

What if I told you that vampires were real? That shape shifters roamed the streets, that demons and fairies played poker on Saturday nights? What if I said that I know of a phoenix working as a firefighter, that the big cat trainer at the zoo has such an affinity to them, because he is one, or that that famous Hollywood actor with the old world charm, has it because he's been around for a long, long time.

You'd brush it off as if it was nothing, think I was joking, pulling your leg, but I'm not.

But that's what they want you to do, they want you to think that their existence is nothing but a made up fairytale, something to whisper about in the dark of night. No one knows of them, and they like it that way, well, no one but a chosen few, and that's how they want it to stay.

So believe me, there is more to this world than you could possibly comprehend, you just have to open your eyes, open your mind, and know where to look.

~ Topaz Thompson, first day of term.

Welcome to the world where Carpe Noctem isn't just a saying, it's a way of life.
